Gizmo has had some surprises recently - such his little brother Maximilian who is growing more mobile and active.
Kranji Marshes wins OUTSTANDING AWARD OF EXCELLENCE at Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards
Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design wins the Outstanding Award of Excellence at the Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards for Kranji Marshes.
The Kranji Marshes improvement project was intended to reinstate the marsh as a haven for freshwater birds and provide access and facilities for visitors.
Kranji Marshes is now home to more than 170 species of birds, 54 species of butterflies and 33 species of dragonflies, all of which can be observed and studied by visitors without disturbance.

It's no coincidence that Kranji Marshes was officially opened yesterday on 1st February 2016 just in time for World Wetlands Day today 2nd February 2016.
Kranji Marshes also made the front page of all the newspapers today here in Singapore.

Gizmo is 9 years old today. Happy Hatchday Gizmo.
It's a normal day at SCLD's office for him and I guess he will have to try to learn to say his new age.
If we ask him how old he is he generally still says "six" or occasionally if I push it he says "I'm five". Time obviously doesn't mean much when you spend all day flying round the office causing trouble.
So in celebration of his birthday here is a little gallery of the last nine years from his black eyed, clipped winged, messy feeding with a syringe arrival in the office, to his present acrobatic flying, white/yellow iris eyed, fully acrobatic flying, trouble making, talking and whistling self.

3 Purple Swamphens (Porphyrio porphyrio)
1 Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)
1 Yellow Bittern (Ixobrychus sinesis)
A flock of Red-wattled Lapwings (Vanellus indicus atronuchalis)
Several Long-tailed Parakeets (Psittacula longicauda) - our native Parakeet
1 Kingfisher - just a glimpse, probably a White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis)
