The LEAF is a Certification scheme that that celebrates and encourages good landscape design, construction and management of development and park projects. It recognizes ecological, social, and climatic resilience and encourages sustainability in Singapore’s urban landscape and acknowledges best practices in Landscape Design and Management.

The Learning Forest, at Singapore Botanic Gardens, Won of the top Award for Design for a Large Scale Development at the prestigious Landscape Institute (LI) Awards 2018 in the UK.

We are very pleased that two of Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design’s (SCLD) projects have been shortlisted as Finalists for the prestigious Landscape Institute Awards. Our two (2) shortlisted projects are the Learning Forest and Kranji Marshes.
The LI received over 160 entries for the Awards from companies and practitioners from around the world. A total of 36 projects were shortlisted and we were fortunate that both projects submitted by Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design were shortlisted as finalists.

On March 21st 2018 staff from Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design gave a technical tour of the Learning Forest at Singapore Botanic Gardens to a school group from the College les Aigrettes, Reunion island (La Réunion) who are visiting Singapore on an educational and cultural tour. The group of 17 students aged from 11- 16 years have worked wonders to transform their own School environment as part of their ‘Vague Verte’ (Green Wave) project under the guidance of their teacher, Sophie Auzeine.

The Learning Forest at Singapore Botanic Gardens by Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design (SCLD).
As Landscape Architects and Lead Consultants for the project, Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design created new wetlands, visitor facilities, replacement parking, and themed walks encompassing a wide variety of forest, bamboo and wetland plant collections whilst also conserving and improving the existing southern forest.

On 31st March 2017, the Learning Forest at Singapore Botanic Gardens was officially opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. He commemorated the event by planting a tree, Kopsia singaporensis, together with Minister of National Development - Mr Lawrence Wong.
The Learning Forest is a new 9.8 hectare extension to the existing Singapore Botanic Gardens, designed by Stephen Caffyn Landscape Design. The Learning Forest has a different theme and atmosphere to much of the existing Botanic Gardens, as it is more natural, and has a less manicured ambience.

On Friday (31st March) the Prime Minister will be opening our Learning Forest project at Singapore Botanic Gardens.
The final preparations and general cleaning up are underway to prepare this 10 hectare extension to Singapore Botanic Gardens for the grand opening.
